How can you use LinkedIn for building your brand?
- Understand and get to know who you really are – this is where personal branding comes in. It is about uncovering your brand: Who you really are; your unique personality, values, passions, strengths, skills, goals, etc.
- Be authentic – tell people who you really are, not who you want to be
- Ask yourself: What message do you want to communicate?
- How do you stand out from the crowd? What differentiates you from others? What unique value do you offer?
- What do you offer and how do you offer it compared to others?
- What is your target audience?
- What is your point of view?
- How do you convey your personality online? We often meet people first on the web, before we meet them in person.
Be aware: When people look at your profile, the first thing they see is going to be who you are to them. Today your online ID is more and more important!
Some people think LinkedIn is an online resume, but it is not! You will notice who has a Me too profile and who has a profile that stands out. Make sure you know who you really are, what you can offer and express this in a compelling summary with the right keywords.
Personal Branding requires focus. If you appeal to everybody you appeal to nobody. Find out what you are good at and focus on the things you do well – because only you can do it the way you do it!
